Improve Your Self-Esteem

You would be amazed at how much your life will improve when you start to improve your self-esteem.

People with low self-esteem will actually sabotage their own happiness by taking on all the blame for everything that goes wrong in their life.

If this sounds like you trust me you can fix it, you do not and should not have to live like that and you are going to learn how to enjoy every aspect of your life.

If you use these 7 steps to improve your self-esteem everything will take on a whole new look.

Most Of The Shadows Of This Life Are Caused By Standing In One’s Own Sunshine.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Once you begin to value yourself and when you can see your real worth everything outside of you will have no affect on how you feel on the inside.

To improve your life you must first begin to improve your self-esteem and if you follow the advice in this article you will achieve both results, trust me with this!

I started this website almost four years ago and at that time I had only one goal in mind, I wanted to help people.

If you have been following me or rather my website for a while you are most likely aware of the inordinate amount of challenges I have faced throughout my life as well as those I am still dealing with today.

As a result of those challenges I have had my own inner struggles with low self-esteem, a loss of personal confidence, a poor self-image and at times almost no self-worth.

However, I have learned what it takes to overcome all the above and more.

I am confident that I can show how to improve your self-esteem in an easy to follow step by step process.

7 Steps To Improve Your Self-Esteem

Is it really possible to make any lasting improvements in your self-esteem with just 7 simple steps?

Absolutely!

Although before you can begin to improve your self-esteem you must first have a clear understanding of what self-esteem is and how to gauge your own.

What Is Self-Esteem?

Self-Esteem is simply the opinion you have of yourself. It’s your self-worth as you see it not as others see it just you.

If you have a low opinion of yourself that means that you place very little value on yourself and you most likely suffer from low self-esteem.

I used the word suffer because living with low self-esteem brings with it a lot of pain both emotionally and for some physically.

The good news though is that you can improve your self-esteem with a little work in a short amount of time. Let’s get  started.

The First Step To Improve Your Self-Esteem:

  • Recognize and Admit that you might have a problem.

Sometimes we just have to take a step back and look at our lives from the perspective of those that are around us.

Would your co-workers, family or friends describe you as an outgoing, ambitious and generally happy person? Those are all traits of a person with a high degree of self-esteem.

If you could not answer “Yes” to the above question then it’s time for you to take a good honest evaluation of yourself.

Being honest with yourself is the first step on the path to improve your self-esteem. When you are dealing with low self-esteem the person you see in the mirror is not an accurate image of the person you are or could be.

To improve your self-esteem you must change the way you see yourself. The person you are seeing in the mirror is a distortion of the real you.

To raise your self-esteem you have to get past that distorted image and change the perception you have of yourself.

Again the first step to improve your self-esteem is to recognize and admit to yourself that you have a problem.

You have the ability to overcome this on your own once you decide to take responsibility for your own life.

Once you reach your adult years there is only one person responsible for your self-esteem and that person is you.

You choose your own identity, the one you display to the rest of the world and you attach a value to that identity.

If you decide that you don’t like your identity you have the capacity to redefine it.

If you want to improve your self-esteem you have to find a way to redefine your identity and that starts with awareness.

You will never enjoy a happy and fulfilled life by hiding in the shadows of life’s challenges.

The Second Step To Improve Your Self-Esteem:

  • Judge Yourself Based On Your Personal Merits.

You see when you are battling low self-esteem you make the playing field uneven. Not only do you focus on your weaknesses, you magnify them!

This is a painful, yet conscious choice. You choose to place and judge yourself in comparison to all those around you and then pick what you believe to be your in-fallacies and you blow them way out of proportion.

Of All The Judgments We Pass In Life, None Is More Important Than The Judgment We Pass On Ourselves.

Nathaniel Branden

With low self-esteem you constantly compare yourself to others and you give them an unfair advantage and this feeling of inferiority grows out of control.

If you want to improve your life you have to muster the courage to step up and take action.

To improve your self-esteem you have to break the cycle of self-degradation because then and only then will you begin to see yourself accurately, the way that you see others.

You have to even the playing field.

Judging and rejecting any part of yourself can be enormously painful but mentally and physically.

Choose to Love yourself as you love others.

The Third Step To Improve Your Self-Esteem:

  • Take An Accurate Self-Assessment.

Your first step to taking an accurate self-assessment is to get out a pen a paper and start listing both your strengths and your weaknesses.

When you are finished your weaknesses column with most likely be far longer than your strengths so this is where you enlist the help of friends and family.

To create an accurate self-description you have to start with accurate data and if you currently have feelings of low self-worth you will not treat yourself in an honest manner.

To improve your self-esteem you need to go over your list with an unbiased person, someone who will be honest with you so what you have in the end is an accurate description of yourself.

Now compare your new self-description with the old and you will see just how unfair you have been treating yourself.

Step Four To Improve Your Self-Esteem:

  • A Commitment To Personal Improvement.

The great part about step number three is that it gives you something physical that you can use to help boost your self-worth.

You have to carry that list with you wherever you go and if you start to feel inadequate when you are around others all you have to do pull out your list and read through your strengths until you begin to feel better.

But there is more!

If you really want to improve your self-esteem you have to make a commitment to choose just one of your weaknesses from your list and take steps to improving that area of your life.

Don’t shrug this off because I am telling you this from experience it is a very powerful and effective method for improving your self-esteem for the long run. Just Do It!!

The Fifth Step To Improve Your Self-Esteem:

  • This Step Comes In The Form Of Compassion.

The very essence of self-esteem is compassion.

Love Yourself Unconditionally, Just As You Love Those Closest To You Despite Their Faults.

Jack Canfield

I am sure that you have and display compassion for other people in you life so don’t you think that you deserve to have some of that compassion for yourself?

We really can be our worst enemy at times. When we are at our most vulnerable point what do we have a tendency to do?

We put ourselves down, we call ourselves names that others wouldn’t even think to call us.

Be honest now, how many times have you called yourself a stupid idiot for something as ridiculous as spilling a glass of milk?

I already know the answer; A lot!!

If you want to improve your self-esteem you have to be kind to yourself, show yourself some compassion.

You are not an idiot because you made a mistake and you’re certainly not stupid, I mean come on how stupid can you be, you’re reading my site :) Did you smile, at least a little smile?

All kidding aside if you start treating yourself with as much kindness and compassion as you do for others you will start to feel better about yourself from the inside out.

When you have compassion for yourself you are more forgiving and you accept yourself for who you are.

The Sixth Step To Improve Your Self-Esteem:

  • Setting Goals And Working To Achieve Them!

Nothing will do more damage to your self-esteem then the lack of forward progress in life.

How do you feel about yourself when you have nothing to look forward to? Not too good I bet!

We all need to have something to work towards or something that we can feel good about.

High Self-Esteem Is A Fundamental Need For All Those Who Have Goals To Achieve. You Will Improve Your Self-Esteem With Every Goal You Set And Every Goal You Achieve!

Howard G. Platt 111

Setting goals for your life will give you something to look forward to and when you achieve one of those goals you will just naturally improve your self-esteem.

We are human creatures and we are meant to always be moving forward in life. Stagnation will cause more pain and do more harm to your self-esteem than anything else.

What’s worse than really wanting something in life but never achieving it? Not much! And your self-esteem pays the price.

To Improve Your Self-Esteem You Must Take Action!

It’s up to you to set some achievable goals and to set some that are not a sure thing. You will improve your self-esteem with every milestone you reach along the way.

You must get in the habit of making things happen in your life, don’t sit around waiting and hoping that something will happen get out there and make it happen.

With this type of forward mobility you will improve your self-esteem with leaps and bounds.

You cannot achieve results without first talking some action!

If you want something go get it!

The only thing that can stop you is fear and self-doubt but with you new healthy way of thinking you’re not going to let those stop you.

The Seventh Step To Improve Your Self-Esteem:

  •  Just One Word – Visualization

Through visualization you can improve your self-esteem, strengthen your self-worth and build the confidence to set and achieve your goals.

Visualization Is The Hidden Secret To Improving Your Self-Esteem And Living The Life You Dream!

Howard G. Platt 111

Visualization has been used for centuries by people from all cultures. You don’t even have to believe in the effectiveness of visualization for it to work.

Of course you will realize faster results when you practice it with faith and belief but either way you cannot avoid the benefits of practicing visualization.

Visualization can improve your self-esteem faster than the six previous steps can together.

You now have the seven most powerful action steps that will help you to improve your self-esteem in records time.

If you feel good about yourself on the inside you will feel good about yourself on the outside.

Always remember to be kind to yourself, don’t become your own worst enemy.

Do not allow that little voice in your head to put you down or criticize you in any way.

To Improve Your Life You Must Improve Your Self-Esteem!

Hello Sue,

First I apologize for taking so long to respond to your comment. I sent an email out to all my subscribers the other day to let them all know that I was hospitalized back in October and I was just released a few days ago so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I am so glad that you found some strength from my writings, low self-esteem can wreak havoc on your emotions but once you stop judging yourself based on the false belief that you are not as good as those around you, you will begin to see your own value and worth.

I wish you the best!
Sincerely,
Howard
