Commitment The Eighth Key In Our Discussion On Developing Your Personal Power.

CommitmentCommitment, whether it be to a job, a relationship, or a profession is one of the hardest processes for people to actually fully follow through with.

The majority of people in this world are not completely devoted to anything.

People may claim to be but when it comes right down to it there is always some sort of reservation having to do with something.

They just do not give it 100% of their energy in all the areas that count.

The ability to commit yourself whole heartily with complete enthusiasm to what it is you want to do is the starting point to all achievement.

To totally devote yourself to your profession you must first be certain that your chosen field is exactly what you truly want to be doing.

The most successful people, those who have achieved great things in their lives and had met the goals that they set for themselves totally enjoyed the work that they were doing.

Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason, mastery demands all of a person.
Albert Einstein

Making a total commitment to something, be it your job, your relationship or a special project you may be working on will give you the drive you need to achieve the desired result.

A Commitment To Your Decisions

But for all this to take place you must first dedicate yourself to a decision you have made.

Decisions do not always come easy, but if you take some time try to consider all the possible outcomes, you will then make a qualified decision.

The Importance of Making Decisions and What Motivations are Involved In Good Decision Making!

Make a commitment to your boss, your relationship, your organization or anything that is very important to you, decide that you are giving 100% of yourself and then live your life fully with these plans always in mind. Your own personal power is strengthened through this process.

Loyalty to all those parts of your life is essential for achieving success and you should commit to yourself that you will always strive to do your best, be your best and to remain true to what you have chosen to do.

We should all have a commitment to treat every person we meet with respect and dignity.

This is the basis of all relationships and to not be committed to respectful behavior means you will not receive respect in return.

Effectively demonstrating a commitment to others and to yourself is not always easy.

The fact is demonstrating this is hard work and wavering commitment is usually seen as no commitment at all.

The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.

We all make promises to ourselves. But only a handful of us is able to follow through on those promises. Why?

Because we never learned how setting and achieving personal goals is not a skill taught in school or covered in on-the-job training.

But now a popular author and motivational speaker John Powers provide a road map to keeping those private commitments.

This program is not only an excellent personal development tool it is completely entertaining. I personally love listening to this audio program because I learn something new every time and the guy is actually really funny.

He gives you real-life situations that he has gone through and he delivers his message in a very comical way, this is a terrific personal development program that I highly recommend.

The 5 Disciplines of Powerful People By John Powers
Learn how to stop breaking the commitment you have made to yourself, the commitment to follow through even when things begin to get tough, the commitment to achieving your goals.

Setting and reaching a personal goal is one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences most of us face.

Often times we fail to reach our goals because we tend to break the promises we make to ourselves, we lack the commitment to sticking to our promises and in our minds, we will make things appear to be too tough too soon and we give up.

The one sure thing we have in this world is the freedom to run our own minds and it is imperative that you express this freedom, that you fully believe you control it and that you do choose to use it in as many positive ways as you can.

The 10 keys to personal power could not be complete without strengthening this step.

Commitment has many other implications, you should keep your mind open to all situations.

Commitment is the enemy of resistance, for it is the serious promise to press on, to get up, no matter how many times you are knocked down.

Commitment As It Relates To The Success of A Business

When it pertains to business, the first and most basic of commitments is that to a set of values. For a business to succeed it must have a purpose or a mission.

If you are to be in charge of running a successful business you have to be committed to the business’s mission statement.

Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.

The second commitment would have to be to yourself. If you expect people to look up to you or just necessarily follow your lead, then you must display a strong sense of integrity.

To truly be successful you must display self-confidence and lead with a type of confidence that strengthens others.

You must have a strong, positive devotion or commitment to a set of personal values that display true sincerity.

Every business has customers and without a strong commitment to your customers, you will not have a business.

Not only should you treat your customers with respect and dignity, but you also need to treat the people who work for your business with the same amount of respect and dignity.

The only way to achieve a reputation for being a person of high integrity is to be consistent in your actions. It all comes back to the set of standards and values that you can personally be proud of.

If you are a person in a position of leadership, you must be committed to leading those in the proper fashion.

Aside from basic respect, everyone deserves you must be committed to giving support to those people. You should lead by example, demonstrating high standards and good values.

In a business situation, you need to be committed to value and focus on what is truly important.

Giving genuine support develops a desire in the hearts and minds of others. You truly set the stage for how the people around you will perform.

Commitment And Leadership

People do not follow uncommitted leaders. Commitment can be displayed in a full range of matters to include the work hours you choose to maintain, how you work to improve your abilities, or what you do for your fellow workers at a personal sacrifice.

Stephen Gregg

As a person in a leadership position, you must always be committed to continual improvement.

Everyone is an employee of someone, even if that someone is the general public, and as an employee, you should never be satisfied, not if you truly committed to success.

Success means to deliver the absolute best service or product that you possibly can.

There is always room for improvement no matter what the situation and if you are a person with a true desire to the success of the service or product you offer, you will always strive to be the best.

Your commitment can really be tested when you face difficult obstacles.

When you display the strong characteristic of unwavering commitment in the face of all odds, you build a reputation of a person of integrity.

Thank you Shiva! I actually wrote a series of 10 articles each one focused on just one specific key of what I refer to as “The 10 Keys To Personal Power” I wrote those 10 articles back in 2009 but they still hold true and they are still posted on the site although they have been spread across multiple categories. I will work on putting together a condensed version which covers the main points for each of the ten keys to building personal power. Thank you for visiting!
Sincerely,
Howard
