How To Defeat A Negative Attitude! Due to some harsh emails and comments, I have received I feel I should point out the fact that this article deals mainly with the effects of harboring a negative attitude along with some specific actions one can take to try and overcome the negativity. This particular article does not deal with depression which is a topic that requires an approach of its own.

I would never suggest that getting over depression is just a matter of ridding yourself of negative thoughts or feelings because I know firsthand it involves much more than just that and I sincerely apologize to those readers I have offended as that is never my intention.

A Negative Attitude Will Affect Every Aspect of Your Life and Regardless of What You May Believe Maintaining A Negative Attitude Is A Matter of Choice!

Maintaining a negative attitude can cripple the person you are meant to be. Negative thinking fosters a self-defeating, destructive attitude and if you allow this type of attitude to flourish it can and will alter your physical and mental well being.

Negative AttitudeLife can be hard and at times it may seem unfair or unjust but ultimately we each choose how we react to troublesome events.

If you choose to allow certain events or circumstances in life to dictate your mood you are giving away your personal power to whatever the stimulus may be that has triggered your negative attitude.

We all have the ability to defeat negative thinking but the only way that you will ever win that battle is if you arm yourself with some specific skills to take back control of your life.

Maintaining a negative attitude drains the energy right out of you and if you allow this to go on for too long it becomes a vicious cycle of negativity, day in and day out.

When you have a negative attitude it does not just affect you, it affects everyone around you and over time this will take its toll on all your personal and professional relationships.

Let’s face it, there are going to be those days when it seems as though nothing is going your way. The worst thing you could do is to allow those things that go wrong define you as a person.

We all have it within us to fight off the negative thoughts that try to tear us and wear us down. Although you must be prepared for the fight beforehand.

You must build the mental fortitude to be able to stop negative thinking before it stops you.

Learning how to deal with situations that could trigger self-defeating thoughts will improve both your mental health and your physical health.

Do you realize that you can actually weaken your immune system by harboring such negativity? There have been studies that show how people with negative attitudes are more susceptible to getting sick compared to those with a positive outlook on life.

Defeating A Negative Attitude For Good!

Do whatever it takes to rid yourself of that negative attitude. Like I said it is a choice so you just might have to consciously say to yourself I refuse to be negative.

I am not trying to make it sound like defeating a negative attitude is that easy but I am trying to tell you that it is up to you to put in the effort it takes to improve your attitude.

As I have told you in another section of this site I have made it a habit to choose my attitude before I even get out of bed in the morning and you can get into the same habit as well.

When I first wake up in the morning I sit up in bed, I take a big stretch, I put a smile on my face and then I say OUT LOUD: “Today I am going to have a terrific day.”

I do this every morning without fail and I have been doing this for years and it has become my first defense to defeating a negative attitude.

This is an easy habit to forge and once you do it will change your life in ways you can only imagine.

I don’t care how bad the day before may have been because the fact is that day is gone and that is the beauty of life, every day we get a brand new day and it is up to us to make the best of every day we are given.

You have to tell yourself that the past is the past and regardless of how good or bad it may have been you cannot change it, all you can do is to focus on the day that’s right in front of you and you have control over how that day turns out.

Learn to focus on the here and now and do all you can to make the most of what you have.

If you take this approach towards life you empower yourself to control your destiny and with this type of personal power, you can defeat a negative attitude every time.

A Negative Attitude And Negative Thinking Can Ruin Your Life!

Make The Next Day of Your Life The Best Day of Your Life And Do This Everyday of Your Life!

There are clear signs that tell you that you have to make some changes in your life.

If you are generally a negative person you have to start making changes in your life…RIGHT AWAY.

A Negative Attitude Cripples And Corrodes The Human Spirit.

  • A negative attitude is self-destructive it will only hinder the process of maintaining good relationships.
  • You will find yourself blaming others for your problems.
  • You will make your rut even deeper by complaining all the time.
  • You will actually be stricken with physical and mental stress.

There is nothing good at all that comes from staying in that state of mind.

A negative attitude drains you of your energy you lose focus and motivation. It strips you of your ability to achieve any type of success in your life.

You spread misery to all those around you and you constantly act as though you are a victim. You lay around and moan and groan expecting others to feel sorry for you, but they don’t because the people around you know that you have brought it all on yourself.

I know that all sounds a little harsh but those are the facts and maybe if you read them it will make you think about all the things that a negative attitude causes in your life and to those around you.

I have had a lot of things happen to me throughout my life that I could have easily allowed to take control of my personal power but I refused to give in or give up.

I have had to deal with some of the most horrific medical problems and to this day I am still fighting for my life. Did you notice I said fighting?

You see I could allow my medical problems to dictate my attitude but I refuse to give up my power to something I cannot control. When life gets tough you have to get tougher. If I allowed my circumstances to dictate my attitude I would have been dead years ago.

I have built a large personal development library in my home from all the resources I have purchased over the years and I use those resources every day because I choose to be happy.

I own hundreds of books and audio programs that deal with personal development issues and out of all that I own, I can tell you that “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale is one of the all-time greatest personal development resources.

I listen to this program or at least a portion of it at least once every week. The things you will learn in this audio program are timeless and they are powerful.

When I first listened to the entire program it was near impossible to maintain a negative attitude or any type of negativity.

If you are constantly battling a negative attitude I could not recommend the following program any stronger. Heck, your life could be perfect and I would still tell you to get this program because it is that good and it is that uplifting and inspirational.

Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude

Success Through A Positive Mental AttitudeSuccess Through a Positive Mental Attitude teaches you some very specific techniques and strategies to not only defeat a negative attitude but to help you develop a positive mental attitude.

With a positive attitude, you develop the inner strength to overcome any adversity life may throw at you and Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone teach you how to use your new found attitude to achieve personal and professional success.

So if you are ready to build an attitude for success you should order this audio program today.

How To Overcome A Negative Attitude And Improve Your Life!

First off, Always remember that reaching out for help is a true sign of strength!

Nobody wants to live with a negative attitude and nobody has to.

I realize that it is not as easy as just turning it off and then to start thinking positive but I do know that it is something you can overcome and you do not have to live another day in misery.

Sometimes the grip it has on you can be so tight that you need to reach out for help and there is no shame in that at all.

I have basically lived the last 25 years of my life asking for help. And you know what? It has worked!

As I said earlier I have built a huge collection of personal development resources and there isn’t a day that goes by where I haven’t read or listened to something from my collection.

I spend a lot of time writing in or reading from my personal journals which helps me from falling prey to those negative thoughts that try to creep into my consciousness.

The point that I am trying to make is that we all need some help at one time or another and there is no shame at all in asking for help or in using something to help improve your attitude.

That is why I will recommend specific resources that I have used either now or in the past, because I know for certain they would be beneficial to my readers.

After all my years of study in the personal development field, I am lucky enough to be able to keep my mind focused on the positive and far from the negative.

I use positive thinking to keep myself in a good mood and it works without fail and no one can argue that with me because they will lose.

Negative AttitudePositive thinking works and it is something you can put to use starting this very moment.

When you have a negative attitude just think to yourself that you have the power to change how you feel.

Focus hard on some positive aspects of your life and keep your mind focused until it just naturally takes over on its own.

Repeat positive affirmations, visualize positive situations, give it a try it is definitely better than feeling totally miserable.

Practice it often and try some of the resources I have pointed out.

Get yourself some motivational audio programs and listen to them in your car or get a CD player and sit quietly and just listen to one for a half hour or so, it will brighten your mood.

These simple acts can pull you out of a negative attitude and selvage your day.

Make a habit of this and people will begin to notice a change in you. You will begin to notice a change in yourself, I Guarantee It!

Nothing good can ever come from having a negative attitude, it will lead you down a long and lonely dark path.

Dear Lost,

I am so sorry to hear of all you are going through and I am even more sorry that the article you read couldn’t help you in any way.

I haven’t been able to write new articles or update any that I’ve written in the past as my medical issues have worsened making it difficult to find the time to write. First, let me say that I am not a professional counselor although my desire has always been to help others in any way possible.

I began this site back in 2008 and my goal then and now has always been to share my story and experiences in hope that others would find it to be helpful. In the beginning, I wrote about my struggles and what helped me personally to overcome them or find some bit of peace. However, over time I came to realize that I had to break free from my own bias or worse yet arrogance and accept the fact that any single problem could have multiple solutions.

I have been studying and learning all I can about personal development since I was a kid so instead of just writing about specific methods or techniques that have helped me over the years I began to share and write about things that have helped others.

My ultimate goal for starting this website has never changed, it has always been to try and help those dealing with difficult challenges and to do so with love and compassion. For years I made myself available by contacting me through the site or by emailing me directly. It didn’t matter what the reason I just wanted my readers to know that they could contact me and that I would respond. My biggest regret is that I have failed to keep up with the site but due to the current challenges I have been struggling with it’s been difficult to find the time.

I am so sorry that you found this particular article to be of no help whatsoever, I hope that does not discourage you from checking out some of the other articles on the site. As I mentioned one problem does not necessarily have just one solution and because of this, you will find different approaches in other articles dealing with the same topic.

I sincerely apologize for offending you in any way with the things I wrote. I realize it has been over a year since you wrote this comment with no response from me and I apologize for that as well. I truly hope that things have improved for you. Please know that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

God Bless You!

Sincerely,
Howard Grant Platt 111

P.S. I plan to become more engaged with my site once I get through an upcoming surgery.

If someone with clinical depression, like me , reads this article, it’s enough to make me want to throw myself in front of a train. Not once in your article have you spoken about or showed one ounce of compassion. Negativity was not a choice I made and I try every waki ng hour to stop these thoughts. Why not research and write something on what clinical depression does to people.

I have searched and searched for ways to end my negative attitude as I know everyone around me is as sick of it as I am. During my daily search for answers that might work or help I came across you. Harsh words for sure as you stated…didn’t help me at all. I too have a sickness that will kill me one day. I am so deep in debit I can’t breath. I hate my job with a passion I didn’t know existed within me. I see no light…none…not even a dim one. Believe me I have tried all the “trick the mind” BS and it’s all that…BS. All the “experts” (for lack of a better term that is kind) and regular people keeping saying “be positive and thankful and start each day anew”…yeah well each day sucks wether it’s new or not and when I’m constantly referred to BUY crap that I cannot buy cuz I am so broke I worry from day to day if I will make it. I keep reading meaningless words that make no difference. I have gone to psychologist that only make me feel worse. Everyone says “dont worry, be happy”…yeah right…whatever. If it were only that simple. I’ve prayed till my hands are about to fall off…nothing there either. I do hope it continues to help somone…that someone isn’t me! Best of luck to your continued peace.

Hi Isabella,

Thank you for the kind words! Yes I would be interested but I would like to have a look at your site first as it would not make any sense to trade links with a roofing company website : )

Let Me Know!
Thank You.
Howard

Isabella Mordaunt 6 June 28, 2013

Howdy! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest authoring a blog article or vice-versa? My site addresses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested feel free to send me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Excellent blog by the way!

Hello Angela,

I just wanted to make a quick reply to let you know that I have read your story and I would like to help in any way that I can. It has taken me this long to get to your comment because once again I have had an extended hospital stay. I feel terrible when I cannot respond to the comments left within a timely manner so I hope that you can understand why it has taken so long.

I will give this some thought and see if I can put together something that you can draw strength from.

For now remain strong and believe in yourself, try practicing visualization it really is extremely powerful. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Take Care!
Sincerely,
Howard

Hi!
I stumbled on your comments by accident and took strength from them. I used to be a bright and sunny person but since of late I am troubled with so many issues like redundancies, bad paid jobs, money issues, family issues, to name a few that every day seems to be a challenge and there are days I simply feel too tired to go on. I used to do a good and well paid job and was managing things well and one day while visiting an old colleage in a previously worked company, a girl who had filled my position there and someone whom I met for the first time, just looked at me and said in a strange way “you look very happy and peaceful” and hearing this my friend whom I had gone to see immeditely said “My God, this girl has a bad mouth, if she says something like this, you will end up getting the opposite”. This sounds very silly and I am not a silly person but somehow things have been going bad for me from then onwards – I lost my job and had to suffer for almost a year without one and then got a job that pays only half of what I received before. I am a single parent with two kids and parents to support and life has since then become unbearable. It’s not that I have not tried to get a better job, I try every day and even though I have a good resume and loads of experience, the necessary enthusiasm and determination, nothing has helped, no interview calls although I have been applying for well over two years now. Every month is a horrible struggle but I try to keep a smile on my face through it all and try to count my blessings. I never let any of my friends or family know how hard thinhgs are, how bad my life has become. If you can give me some good advice, help me to find a way to overcome my problems, I would treasure that forever.
Thank you.

I try my hardest to help my readers as best as I can. I do give a lot of action steps one can take to help fight off negative thinking and replace it with positive productive thinking.

Although you are my visitor and in your case I have failed to help you so I will take your comment into serious consideration as I continue to write new articles.

I Wish You The Best! I do hope you will stop back often as I will be adding new articles.

Turn your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Study the bible and bible commentaries. If you believe in God and live only for him, he will live in you. You don’t need to think of any self end emotional insecurities, once you start living for the Lord. You should realise that you are one of the best in the whole universe, in whatever you do because only God can make you perfect.

Hala 17 February 28, 2012

You must offer your readers methods to overcome negativity in order to have a more positive attitude in life

abusama 18 February 23, 2012

That is very good article and i will share it with my team.Thank you.

Howard Platt 19 January 19, 2012

Hello Haley,

I think you are cutting yourself short from enjoying more of life’s pleasures. You have to realize that not everything is always going to work out for the best and when things do go wrong if there is something you can do to improve the situation you should look at that as a positive. However if there is nothing that can be done then it’s in the past so you should learn whatever you can from the situation and move on.

You should always have positive expectations because if you never expect things to turn out for the good you are basically laying the foundation for failure. I’m struggling to concentrate at the moment so I will recommend an article I wrote a while back that should really be of some help, just click on Positive Self-Expectancy and it will take you straight to the article.

I probably picked a bad time to respond to comments because I have not been feeling well all day but I still think that article about Positive Self-Expectancy could help you much more than I could with a short response.

Let me know what you think after reading the article.
Take Care,
Howard

Hi, I quite often have a negative attitude towards stuff, as I use it as a defensive. If I get my hopes up about something and think really positive and happy thoughts but then it goes wrong then im extremely hurt. I feel like I am in a viscious circle, I never expect anything to go in my favour and I think very negatively of it, I can never seem to see the bright side and its effecting my personal development, my school work, friends, family and boyfriend. Have you got any advice for me?

Howard 21 January 1, 2012

Dear Sac,

Thank you so much for the kind words. It is comments like this that give me the strength and desire to keep pushing forward despite the pain and exhaustion.

Thank You Again My Friend!
Sincerely,
Howard

Sac Hermes 22 December 24, 2011

I’m even now listening to all advice from you actually, when I’m just increasing personally. I really without doubt appreciated examining everything is actually placed for your site.Keep the articles on its way. I really enjoyed this! You help many people I treasure you and site also, you are Great Man!

Howard 23 December 3, 2011

It saddens me to read your comment, I am not sure why you would think that I wrote the article so I could “BRAG” about the resources I have, my only intent is to share what I have learned and how I make it work in my own life in hopes that it will help others.

I am sorry that you did not find any value in reading through the articles on my site.

I only wish you the best.
Sincerely,
Howard

I find after reading your website, sorry to say I jumped the gun to recommend reading this website, I think the information in this page alone a person who DIDN”T READ THIS PAGE could figure out what to do on their own. If it was more informative about actual methods, I might have really been interested, but I will keep looking. The One Bright Spot you have on this page is Recommending Reading “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale. I have his book and read it rarely but now since no one has come up to his standards in working on creating a positive attitude, I will delve into it more and more. And by the way… I am Not ” Bob at Yahoo . com “…… I used that just to get a comment in here on the subject you say you can help, but you only BRAG about how many books you have and programs you own, but Very Little About How You Achieve A Positive Attitude.

Jenni 26 November 30, 2011

Another awesome article! I love Norman Vincent Peale! Thank you for bring this to me!

Emmalyn 27 November 28, 2011

I came to this article looking for help with a severe negativity issue ive had for a while. Nothing doctors or Psychs told me was any good until i found this. It so simple, and i just feel good reading again and again. Thank you so much.

Hi Sian,

Thank you for your comment! I actually have quite a few articles that I have written about the Law of Attraction and I will get some posted over the next week or so.

Sian 29 October 28, 2011

Much food for thought in this article. Uplifting and positive. Hoping it will go along way towards changing deep-rooted negativity. In fact, liking the website as a whole especially the parts which talk about the Law of Attraction and gratitude.

Dereck Johnson 30 October 22, 2011

As you think so shall life bring you what you think about the most, so you better be thinking good thoughts. If your life seems full of bad things, you have no one else to blame. Check your thoughts very cafefully.
